Watson's Wine Cellar
Digital Connoisseur offers advice to wine lovers
Using 42" inch plasma screens at the point of purchase and interactive touch screens with bar code scanners, Watson's offered their wealth of wine knowledge to customers in their Hong Kong stores in 2004.
At the heart of the system lies an SQL database, developed by our team and maintained by the client, with details of the store's latest offers, promotion-led content and 'chalk-board' messages. The database is referenced in real time by the on-screen content and up-to-the-minute information, such as prices, offers and messages, is displayed to the customers.
The same information is used extensively by the kiosk-based 'Watson's Interactive' touch screen units, for browsing wines by various categories with search and recommendation features for customers seeking that perfect bottle of wine for any occasion. Customers gain easy access to a wealth of product information before they purchase, simply by scanning the bottle or keying in a product code.
